This Rolex Datejust, a reference 1601 is a so-called “Wide Boy” Datejust, a nickname earned through its instantly recognizable dial configuration, featuring unique and broader hour markers and equally wide hands, both perfectly balanced in proportion. 

We are pleased to note that this example remains entirely original throughout, a quality that is becoming increasingly difficult to find within the four-digit Datejust line up.

The bracelet remains in very good condition with minimal stretch, complementing a strong and well-preserved case with nicely defined lugs and a clean 18k white gold, Fluted bezel.


Altogether, the watch exudes the charm and authenticity one hopes to find in a truly honest vintage Rolex timepieces.

The dial itself presents a slightly darker champagne tone with a beautiful sunburst finish, offering a subtle richness that shifts elegantly under changing light. The characteristic Wide Boy indices stand proud against the surface, accompanied by the classic black serif printing that defines the era.


The tritium plots and matching handset have aged gracefully, developing a warm and consistent hue, while the original date disc, featuring the desirable open 6 and 9 numerals, further enhances its vintage appeal.
