A beautifully preserved example of the classic Patek Philippe Calatrava, this Ref. 3425 dates back to the 1960s and is presented in its original 18k yellow gold case. Measuring approximately 33.5 mm, its understated proportions, clean dial and small seconds at 6 o’clock capture the quiet elegance of Patek Philippe’s mid-century design.

Inside beats Patek Philippe’s automatic calibre 27-460, one of the manufacture’s defining self-winding movements of the era. Introduced around 1960, the calibre was highly regarded for its technical sophistication and reliability. Today, she still performs according the manufacturer's specs, and will not let you down on your daily journeys.

The original, ivory colored and matte finished dial, is perhaps one of the most charming aspects of this watch. It has never been refinished and retains the subtle character of a well-preserved vintage dial, with its applied gold hour markers and subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock.


There are a few very small marks from ageing visible on the dial, but these are more apparent in the photographs, particularly under close inspection, than they are when the watch is worn on the wrist. The dials surface remains clean and attractive, even when viewed in direct sunlight. It is precisely this kind of honest originality that gives a vintage Patek Philippe its character.

The watch is complemented by its original Patek Philippe “PP” signed 18k yellow gold crown, a small but significant detail that will certainly be appreciated by vintage Patek Philippe aficionados. These original signed crowns were often replaced during servicing by Patek Philippe’s after-sales service, making their survival particularly noteworthy on a vintage example such as this. It is precisely the kind of subtle detail that can easily be overlooked, yet contributes significantly to the watch’s originality and overall appeal.

The watch is fitted with a brand-new chocolate-brown, vintage alligator leather strap, (hand)made to order specifically for this Patek Philippe. The colour was chosen to complement the warm yellow gold of the case while adding a subtle contemporary touch to the otherwise distinctly vintage watch.
