Tank Solo “Lady Pink”
Cartier has long been the master of understated luxury, with the Tank collection standing as one of the most iconic watch designs of all time. But ever so often, the Maison surprises us with a bold expression of colour and form, and this fairly rare reference 3170 is just that.
Manufactured around 2015 in limited numbers, this Tank Solo “Lady Pink” features a radiant pink sunburst dial that plays beautifully with the light, shifting from soft blush tones to vibrant rose depending on the angle. This dial variation was never part of Cartier’s standard catalogue and was only available through selected Cartier boutiques, likely as part of a regional or boutique-exclusive series – making it a true rarity within the Tank Solo line (currently, only an handful are available worldwide). Cartier’s traditional Roman numerals are now light grey rather than black, giving a very fun impression combined with that soft pink, with those grey numbers lighting up even more in the sunlight, creating a surprising and gorgeous effect. The case is of course a classic Solo: stainless steel with softly curved ‘brancards’, a beaded crown with blue spinel cabochon, and proportions that strike a perfect balance between presence and wearability. The matching pink crocodile strap, fitted with the original Cartier folding buckle, completes the ensemble and the overall “Lady Pink” look – Paired with the dial, it creates a tone-on-tone harmony that feels fresh, daring, yet unmistakably Cartier.
Powered by a reliable Cartier quartz movement, this Tank Solo “Lady Pink” is not only a distinctive and joyful take on a classic, but also a rarely seen execution of the Tank model. A perfect companion for anyone drawn to the less-travelled, more colourful path – and is most likely a collector’s piece in the making.
