You are looking at the Cartier Santos Ronde manufactured entirely from stainless steel – as always with Cartier, they had their reasons for designing it, as it adds something that a square Santos doesn’t have. La Maison took inspiration for this watch from another one of their famed creations, de Cartier Ronde. Mixed in with the style elements of the Santos, you get a very captivating watch, with its distinct bezel with the signature screws. The case is remarkably slim, quite honestly (and dare we say it) it sits better on the wrist than its square sibling.. The crown guards seem to come, elegantly sculpted, out of the case, and the crown features a faceted blue sapphire, which perfectly complements the blued hands.
The dial on this Santos isn’t white, it has more of an eggshell/off-white tone which definitely adds to the vintage vibes of this 1990’s Cartier. The dial is free from damages and the black Roman numerals all are crisp. Apart from the signature Cartier dial, the combination of a steel case and steel brushed bracelet with polished screws, gives the watch much more contrast and a casual chic appearance. That bracelet is another area in which the Santos de Cartier Ronde excels. While it is already superb on the square model, this one adds something special to match the design – Cartier curved the links so that they fall over each other like the scales of a snake. This further increases the wearing comfort and looks stunning on the wrist. The clasp is crowned by the intertwined C in stainless steel, a finishing touch that underscores this watch’s superb pedigree. While the square Santos is still part of the Cartier collection, the Santos Ronde isn’t.
