Santos Galbee SIHH L.E.
At the SIHH of 2002, Cartier launched one of the most desirable models of the Santos. This limited edition of 2.000 pieces features a steel case and bracelet and comes with a unique grey dial without a date function. This is not the only thing that sets this Santos apart from its siblings, as the hallmark Roman numerals are made from Super-LumiNova. That gives this Santos a very sportive look while maintaining its classic size.
It is no wonder that this particular model has gotten a cult-like following, and is considered by many to be the Santos to have. It brilliantly bridges the classic pedigree of the watch with a more contemporary look, without diluting the strong DNA. Cartier alternated brushed and polished surfaces so that the unique shape of the case is highlighted at all times, underscoring the exceptional design.
The bracelet is fitted with a hidden clasp that is so well done that it is even hard to spot. That makes it that this Santos has exceptional wearing comfort while looking great doing so. Inside the case ticks a reliable automatic movement, which can be wound and set by the charismatic crown. Unique for this model is that Cartier didn’t opt for a sapphire cabochon but cut the stone instead. This fits in nicely with the more dynamic nature of this Santos, and adds a subtle dash of color to its stunning monochrome looks.
