The 16520 is powered by Rolex’s Zenith El Primero-based movement, caliber 4030. Rolex upgraded the Zenith movement to meet its own high quality requirements. They upgraded the movement with a new escapement including a Brequet coil for more accuracy. They reduced the Zenith movement’s high beat rate from 36,000 bph (beats per hour) to the Rolex norm of 28.800 bph. They also deleted the date function from the movement. When they finished, caliber 4030 was born. This 16520 ‘Zenith Daytona’ remains in excellent condition with the original Tachymeter bezel still crisp and clean. The same goes for the stunning white dial with its gorgeously designed sub-dials. We were able to purchase this watch from the original owner, whom purchased it brand new in 1995. Throughout the years, the watch was solely serviced by Rolex Authorized Dealers in Amsterdam and Haarlem. The owner diligently maintained all service documents and receipts dating back to 1998 to when the Daytona received its first service. The final service on this Daytona was performed in 2023 by our colleagues at Tempus Watch Service, including their service report. All Rolex and Rolex AD receipts, Rolex and Cosmograph Daytona booklets, the Rolex inner and outer boxes, the hangtags, and warranty cards from previous services are also still included with the watch.
