ROLEX DATEJUST PORCELAIN DIAL 16220

Wow! This Rolex Datejust with reference 16220 is fitted with the purist white dial of them all – the porcelain dial! Most of us are familiar with the porcelain dial from the early (and very rare) version of the 16520 Zenith Daytona watches. But Rolex also fitted some Datejust models with dials made from this same lacquered material. We sold one other porcelain dial Datejust before, about three years ago which was also an X-serial – There’s only one other for sale which is in Dubai, which is an R serial watch, so it looks like the porcelain dials were fitted to Datejust watches during the late 80’s up to early 90’s – Interesting.

The dial obviously compliments the entire watch here, the way the high gloss porcelain smiles at you when you look at the watch is unlike anything else, the dial constantly plays with the light making the markers and hands seem black at one time and at another exactly for what they are, 18k white gold! The slightly raised, black printed text, has a wonderful high gloss finish to it which looks amazing against that virgin white dial. Because of the way these dials were processed in production and due to the high-end finish of the entire dial, this is one Datejust that breathes exclusivity and is truly a rare watch – you won’t bump into someone else wearing this exact same Rolex any time soon.

The case on this porcelain beauty is nice and thick while the engine turned bezel is clean without any dents or major damages. The watch is fitted on a 62510H Jubilee bracelet with 55B end-links – this bracelet has some stretch to it but is still in a very good condition. The watch and it’s entire movement have been fully serviced according to the Rolex specs and the watch will be sold with a twelve month warranty. A rare and collectable Datejust gem in a 100% all original condition!
