Datejust 16013 ‘Honey Gold’

It’s time to treat yourself to one of Rolex’s most iconic watches: the two-tone Datejust. The 16013 reference from 1981 presented here, with its warm vintage gold accents, is quite likely Rolex’s most famous and widely recognized timepiece. The dial has a gentle golden tint (often refferred to as a honey tone) with black printed writing and beautiful faceted, stick indices and a “floating” minute-track. This not only gives this vintage 16013 a highly distinctive design, but also a more open-looking watch face; An intriguing look that will not disappoint.

Despite being over 43 years old, the case, bezel, and dial are in excellent condition and shape. The 18k yellow gold indices and hands compliment the clean soft-golden dial and even add more warmth when worn in the sun. The stainless steel case has broad lugs with clean edges – a closer look reveals that this beauty has not been polished much. The two-tone, stainless steel and 18k yellow gold Jubilee bracelet (the original 62523-D18 from 1981 by the way) remains in solid conditions and will last you another couple of decades. The 18k yellow gold fluted bezel is sharp and clear, with the wonderful warm radiance of vintage 1980’s gold. The tritium dots at the end of the hour markings are perfectly preserved and have a lovely warm vanilla color to them. This 16013 Datejust still features the original cream-colored date-disc with open 6’s and 9’s in that classic serif font we all love so much on vintage Rolex watches.
