Datejust 1600 Silver/Champagne
We found another one! A spotless, fat cased Datejust with smooth bezel – The thing you immediately notice on this vintage Rolex is that gorgeous silver/champagne dial with Sun-ray finish, adorned with striking hour-markers. These so-called Fancy Markers are applied, raised and machined in such a way that they almost become miniature pieces of art. The markers at the six and nine position for instance are double the width of the other markers and have a small split cut right down the middle, along with a facet cut on the bottom end. A marvelous piece of machinery and a great example of the art of Rolex dial manufacturing.
Inspect that Sun-ray finished dial with its spectacular indices and perfect Tritium dots which have aged to a beautiful custard toned patina, and you will not find any flaws. Any spots or lines you might see are on the plexi glass crystal itself and are most likely dust particles – this one survived gracefully and fully intact. The center case is nice and strong with sharp lines and strong lugs and hasn’t been polished much during the last 50+ years. The watch is worn on a 6251 folded Jubilee bracelet with 55 end-links which shows some stretch, but has been fully inspected and is a bracelet which will last for a few more decades. This entire Datejust 1600 silver/champagne truly looks the part and gives off the coolest vintage appearance with a dial that shows a silver colour when worn outdoors, but turns to a champagne tone once indoors – How cool is that..
