Constellation “Pie-Pan Dog Leg”

The Omega 168.005 is one of the most iconic vintage Constellations and a real Omega classic that remains reasonably priced when compared to its larger brothers, or similar watches from competitive brands. The Omega constellation is available in a variety of elegant watch casings with lavishly painted Pie-Pan dials. The dial as seen on our Constellation features a silver Sunburst motive and golden applied emblems for the Omega logo, Omega’s brand name, the Constellation star at the bottom of the dial, as well as the hour-markers. This particular example with pie-pan dial and its four typical lugs, is often referred to as the “pie pan dog leg’ constellation, for obvious reasons.

This Chronometer Certified, vintage Omega Constellation features a goldcapped case; goldcapped cases on vintage Omega watches from the 1950’s and 1960’s refers to a manufacturing technique where a thick layer of gold is mechanically bonded to a stainless steel base. This method is different from gold plating, as the gold layer is significantly thicker, offering more durability and a more luxurious appearance. In vintage Omega watches, goldcapping was a popular choice because it provided the aesthetic and prestige of solid gold at a more affordable price, while still maintaining robustness and longevity. The result is a watch that combines the elegance of gold with the structural integrity of stainless steel. Even after decades of wearing a watch like this Constellation, the gold cap does not wear out and still ensures quality and brilliance. As with all Constellation watches, the caseback here is also adorned with the Observatory of Geneve coin.

This vintage Omega Constellation “Pie-Pan Dog Leg” has been fully serviced by our Omega certified watchmaker, using only original Omega parts, and will be delivered with our extensive 24-month warranty.
