1803 Day-Date ‘Pink Chocolate’

As you may know, the Rolex Day-Date has always been made entirely of precious metals. Among the 1803 references, the pink gold version is the rarest of these precious metals, but it is also the most admired and sought-after vintage Rolex Day-Date today (even more so than the platinum variant). The 1803 in pink gold that we’re offering here has survived the past 55 years elegantly, with barely any scars, and is truly in second-to-none conditions. We’re pleased to present you the 1803 Day-Date ‘Pink Chocolate’.

Let’s look at the precious metal varieties of the 1803 that were created during the 1950s all the way through to the late 1970s – Yellow gold was the most common material for the reference 1803. The majority of these watches were crafted in 18k yellow gold, making it the standard option during these production years. It is to believed, based on market availability and expert analyses, that around 70-80% of the 1803 models were produced in yellow gold. White gold variants of the 1803 reference were produced in smaller quantities – These models are less frequently encountered in the vintage market, suggesting they constitute a smaller percentage of the total production. An approximate estimate might place white gold versions at around 10-15% of the total production. Pink versions of the reference 1803 are notably rarer than their yellow and white gold counterparts. The production of Pink gold models was limited, making them highly sought after in todays market, so it’s very plausible to estimate that rose gold variants represent approximately 5-10% of the total 1803 Day-Date production. So, taking into account the information above, we are talking about a pretty rare vintage Day-Date here, and we haven’t discussed the dial yet.

Apart from that gorgeous pink gold, the chocolate-brown pie-pan dial is the absolute standout feature on this 1803. That rich brown hue, complemented by the 18k pink gold hour markers and hands, offers a super rare and vibrant color appearance. The chocolate color is warm and truly comes alive in the daylight, especially in the sunshine, where it transforms into a stunning milk chocolate tone. The accompanying and original President bracelet is best described as having no stretch, which indicates minimal wear. Important as over time these bracelets can develop stretch due to metal fatigue. To be clear, the stretch on this bracelet is not even 5% (if you want to put a number on it) and the Oyster style folding clasp opens and closes as if the watch just left the factory. Regarding that clasp, pay close attention to the protruding Rolex crown. Typically, these logo crowns are polished down to a stump, but in this case, it is still rather sharp which should tell a lot about the overall condition and quality of this exquisite 1803. The watch will fit any wrist with a circumference of up to 17.5-18cm.

Overall, we’re dealing with a rare and seldom seen vintage Day-Date, and since she’s even more beautiful in person than in any of the images, we’d be pleased to welcome you to our HQ so you can see for yourself – As you are accustomed to, this 1803 Day-Date ‘Pink Chocolate’ has been professionally serviced and will be sold with our extensive two-year warranty.
