1601 Datejust Silver Sunburst

Once again, we were able to locate one of the all time classics, a beautiful vintage Rolex Datejust, reference 1601 from the 1970’s. This renowned Rolex is in a great condition and features one of the most classic dials available; the silver pie-pan dial. Close inspection reveals the gritty lines of Rolex’s signature sunburst finish, however once on the wrist, that finish is obscured and the dial seems clean and even. Also notice the vanilla colored Tritium dots located at the end of the hour-markers and inside the hands, this slight discoloration is made possible by the aging process that tritium experiences throughout the decades.

Aside from the all-original condition and the lovely silver sunburst dial, we’d want to draw your attention to those really cool hourmarkers, and this is where the Datejust truly reigns supreme. Rolex produced dozens of dial designs for the Datejust, with the hourmarkers serving as a point of differentiation. The hourmarkers on this particular 1601 appear like ‘WIde Boy’ markers, and one could think that the hands on this vintage Datejust are therefor incorrect, however a closer inspection reveals a ‘U’ shaped/’U’ cut index with outer corners painted with a thin black line. It’s a really cool feature of this watch, and once you see it, you’ll never forget it. Thus, the hands actually correspond to the watch and are a true part of these broader U-shaped hour-marker, vintage Datejust  models. The watch is worn on its original 6251 Jubilee bracelet with 55 end-links. This bracelet fits snugly on the wrist and doesn’t show much stretch; It is the ideal all-around vintage Rolex Datejust with that well-known white gold bezel, that will serve you well from the beaches to the boardroom..

As expected, this 1601 Datejust Silver Sunburst was professionally serviced in accordance with Rolex factory specifications and will be delivered with our extensive 24 month warranty.
