1501 Date Anthracite Dial

We’re delighted to offer you guys another wonderful 34mm vintage Rolex. This time it’s the Rolex Date, reference 1501, with a gorgeous matte and gritty finished Anthracite coloured dial. This watch is from the late 1970’s and features its original bracelet, a stunning dial, a super cool bezel and remains in an all-over wonderful condition.

This 1501 Date is one of Rolex’s most recognizable and timeless models. This vintage wristwatch exemplifies Rolex’s sporty, yet classic stainless steel design. One of the watch’s most distinguishing qualities is its excellent Anthracite coloured dial. This dial is notable for its characteristic gritty matte finish, which is reminiscent of four-digit Submariner dials from the same era – as mentioned, this dial remains in a great shape, and shows little to no evidence of wear/tear or damages. This of course reflects the watch’s excellent level of care over the years. This is also visible in the original 1977 folded Oyster bracelet: this bracelet with number 78350 and 557, 19mm end-links remains in very good condition and shows a crisp B clasp code inside the folding buckle. The watch’s general excellent quality continues with the fairly unique, Engine turned bezel, which essentially combines a Coin-Edge bezel and an Engine turned bezel into one, and is recognizable by its sharp and clear ridges and grooves, often also called a ‘hourly indexation Engine turned bezel’. In our opinion this 1501 reference is an extremely beautiful and timeless design from Rolex’s 1970’s design book.
