JAEGER CHRONOGRAPH ‘OFFICER CASE’
Up for grabs is this rare Jaeger Chronograph from the late 1940’s with stunning Officers case in all original condition! This exquisite Jaeger is manufactured from 18k yellow gold and is powered by Universal’s Caliber 287. These particular Jaeger Chronograph ‘Officer Case’ watches we’re exclusively produced for the French market and finding another one will be very hard – When similar watches do come up for sale, it’s usually through the well known Auction Houses in Geneve or Hong Kong – Now you can just pick one up right here in Haarlem.
The beautiful oversized Officer case with it’s distinct lugs and squared, faceted chronograph buttons is a sight to behold! The large, silvery white dial with it’s well sized registers and blue and red telemeter and tachometer indication on the outer edge of the dial, are very well balanced and typical for 1940’s chronograph design. The original, hand-blued steel baton hands for the chronograph create a wonderful contrast against that lighter background, these hands look black when viewed from the front, but tilt the case and that magical blue appears on all four of the chrono hands – the remaining hour and minute hand show a graceful curved design. The dial is modestly signed with just the Jaeger name in that wonderful and typical 1940’s/1950’s (small) Jaeger font. During the production of this Jaeger Chronograph, watchmakers Jaeger and LeCoultre had already merged to one company; Jaeger-LeCoultre, but due to exporting issues, LeCoultre manufactured watches for the US market while Jaeger watches were produced for the European market – Hence our ‘Jaeger only’ dial on this classy yet sporty Jaeger Chronograph.
The entire watch remains unpolished with all gold hallmarks, case number and other engravings very sharp and visible to the naked eye. The yellow gold is also showing a warmer tone due to it’s age with just the right amount of gold tarnishing which makes for a wonderful vintage presence and flair. This Jaeger Chronograph is worn on a leather strap fitted with an 18K yellow gold buckle that matches the incredible lug design of the case exactly, the watch is accompanied by a Jaeger LeCoultre box and the movement was fully serviced by our watchmaker. The movement is keeping excellent time and the chronograph is working accordingly. This stunning Jaeger Chronograph with Officer Case will be sold with a twelve month warranty.
