ROLEX ‘INDIGO’ DATEJUST

Not just any color blue, but a flat matte blue decorates the dial of this stunning Rolex Datejust from 1979.

I guess this color is best described as an Indigo blue, as the matte blue finish on the dial reminds us of fresh dyed Indigo cotton. This particular color makes the watch a totally different blue dialed Datejust, and one you won’t encounter everyday.

The matte blue dial is adorned with mainly sleek, yet rough brushed white gold indexes, which have a polished facet on both ends. At the wider six and nine indexes this brushed finish is clearly visible, as are the polished ends, such cool style and design! The design of the indexes make the overall look of the dial a bit more playful when compared to the ‘normal’ stick index dials. If you look closely you will also notice that all Tritium dots are present and perfect. This Datejust also still has the original date-wheel with the ‘open six and nine’ numerals. It might sound crazy, but this vintage font is so much sexier than the newer ones used by Rolex. It’s he thing us watchnerds are keen on. There is however a small mark on the left side of the center of the dial, left there from what seems a watchmakers tool. Please note that this mark is better visible on our HD images, then in real life when the watch is worn on the wrist.

The case and bezel on this 16030 are nice and thick and the overall watch has been taking good care of throughout the years. As expected the bracelet does show some stretch but really nothing to be concerned about. Apart from the small mark (who doesn’t haven’t scars after nearly 40 years) the overall condition of this beautiful matte blue ‘Indigo’ Datejust is solid, and will make someone out there a happy new watch-owner!

This Datejust has been fully serviced by our watchmakers and will be sold with a 12 month warranty.
