UG Big Eye Unpolished

Universal Geneve is a company responsible for some of the most gorgeous and stunning looking chronographs made during the most exciting era of chrono’s, the 1960’s. This Uni-Compax with its asymmetrical sub dial lay-out, is synonyms with those chronographs and is a watch produced for only two years – from 1963 to 1965. It is a watch known to collectors as the “Big Eye” due to the enlarged chronograph register at the 3 o’clock position and is a very rare watch in todays market, fewer than twenty “Big Eyes” have surfaced in the commercial market during the most recent years.

The case on this UG “Big Eye” remains in a wonderful condition and is in our humbled opinion, an unpolished case. The original, horizontal factory brushing on top of the four lugs are still visible to the naked eye, but do show some fading from aging. The pump pushers as well as the “U” signed crown are the original parts to the watch and the entire dial remains spotless with a 1000 units tachymeter scale on the outer edge of the dial. The detailed red accents on the dial and inside the sub-dials are amazing and really draw you in, plus the red looks killer in this Reversed Panda design. It seems that the watch was mostly worn on leather as the case-back shows a lot of hairline scratches (most likely from table tops). However not visible in the photo above, the reference number and the case number are still very much readable on that case-back, something truly worth mentioning as this is important to a lot of UG collectors.

We fitted this phenomenal UG “Big Eye” to our soon to be introduced, “Jet Black” Grained calf leather strap with brushed stainless steel buckle. The watch is powered by a Universal Geneve calibre 125 which was fully serviced – This exciting Big Eye Uni-Compax will be sold with our 24 month warranty.
