1675 MK5 “Maxi Dial”
As a vintage watch geek we hunt for the details, good strong case? no stretch in the bracelet? Clean dial? Well this one has it all! The case is sharp, clean and free from damages with four lugs that are still perfectly shaped, fat and in all original condition. The second thing, and perhaps the ultimate eye-catcher to this watch, is that gorgeously faded, fat font insert – this so-called Redback insert is also still the original one from the late 70’s and is showing gradient blue and soft pink colours, simply stunning! Depending on the angle you’re viewing the watch from, the pink part of the insert can become darker or lighter, from a sharp angle it even shows the much sought after Fuchsia colour, this can also be seen in the ‘profile’ photo of the watch above. This look matches perfectly with the matte black/anthracite dial and the vanilla patinated Tritium hour dots – on some dots there is some Tritium missing, but the white printed paint underneath is still easily covered. The Tritium inside the original non-white golden hands is slightly lighter when compared to the hour dots, but both show wonderful vintage characteristics. This vintage GMT is worn on its original 7836 folded Oyster bracelet and is a bracelet that shows very little stretch with a perfect and original folding clasp with a clear Rolex coronet.
All in all, this 1675 MK5 Maxi dial Pepsi GMT is slowly becoming an ‘endangered species’ not many like this are coming up for sale anymore, and i’m seeing less and less in the wild.. If you’re looking for an honest and all original 1675 you really need to consider this one.. The automatic 1575 movement was fully serviced and the watch will be sold with our 24 month warranty, including the GMT’s original box.
